Why 180 degree shutter

Cinematic video closely mimics human vision. It is more natural-looking and familiar. The familiarity is what draws in audiences and makes video more visually appealing. Shutter angle is simply the shutter speed relative to frame rate and controls motion blur. What is Shutter Speed? Shutter speed is the rate in which the shutter opens and closes during each frame.

It is measured in fractions of a second and determines how much light hits the sensor. For my taste anyway, it seems a bit overdone. Traditional camcorders have them built in, but for DSLRs you have to physically attach a filter. The smaller your aperture, the deeper the depth of field DoF , and heaven forbid if you shoot a DSLR with a deep depth of field.

If you have other examples of how you break this rule purposefully, and why, hit us up on Twitter. Below is an example of where I used a high shutter speed for a very specific purpose. The degree rule is a standard in the film industry, and it explains the relationship between shutter speed and frame rate when recording motion in video. To mimic motion the same way the human eye experiences it in real life, the degree rule states that shutter speed should be set to double your frame rate.

Remember, a fast shutter speed will produce a darker picture with little to no motion blur depending on the speed of the subject , while a slow shutter speed will produce a lighter image with more pronounced motion blur.
