Why nielsen as career
Yes There are 1 helpful reviews 1 No. Working for nielsen used to be great. A lot of changes this year. More responsibilities added no raises. As much as we keep complaining about the extra work they keep telling more is coming. Cons Too much work, not enough pay. This job has extremely little room for advancement. Recent drops in annual income due to decreased incentives and overtime. Must be very driven and motivated. Deal with a variety of people and households.
It takes a generally good person with common sense, driven, adaptable and able to read people and situations to be successful at this job. Pros Set your own schedule most of the time. Cons Less salary nowadays, management can be good or bad depending on your region. Your experience matters. Help out others considering your employer. Rate your employer. There was lots of internal drama, a seeming lack of communication and support from the top down. I was informed of a large oncoming layoff and was completely ignored by human resources and managers when asking for information, as if I was already out the door.
The company talks a good game about supporting their workers, but obviously the bottom line is far more important than the livelihoods of the individuals they employ. You have a lot of flexibility with this company. You go in to a lot of disgusting homes and meeting a lot of interesting people. If you dont like people, you wont like this job. Pros Lots of free time.
Cons Pay. If you were stuck in one without growth, you really had to either transfer or leave if you wanted more money or responsibilities. Work-life balance was good though. Great schedule and good pay. Good company and great coworkers.
Great place to work if you are organized and want to control your own income. Your pay reflects your accomplishments from the work you do in the field. Pros Schedule Flexibility.
Cons Pay is great but fluctuates base on your bonus. In order to really be successful at Nielsen you will be required to sacrifice your family time. You work when everyone else is home, thus you're not. Your company vehicle is available for personal use, gas included. Pros Great Pay, perks, and benefits. I loved the autonomy on this job. I loved working for Nielsen. It was an interesting job and I liked that fact the goals you had to reach each week. It kept you on your toes. I loved the driving required on this job. I think they were very fair on how they treated their people. Pros Gas was paid for, bonus were given free luncheon and dinner meeto.
Cons Making reports weekly. Great Management, Remote style work environment, Daily travel to selected homes, If you enjoy working alone and meeting new people daily this might be the perfect fit for you. Pros Company Car, Set your own schedule. Cons Working in all kind messages of weather.
I have worked for Nielsen for 6 years and then I quit. I would not recommend this company but here is the honest truth: Good - set your own hours if you work in the field as a Membership Representative and you are provided a company car that can be used for personal use. Bad- Required consistent contact with household that have refuse to be apart of the tv rating.
Nielsen requires you to harass the home even though they said no to participation, and they encourage manipulation by presenting a gift at the door for the sole purpose of getting the household to open the door. It's extremely difficult to get promoted out of the field into the office position. Pros Company car. Cons Poor work environment. Overall innovative and caring company on diversity and inclusion.
