How long does m3 last
Expensive is relative. But I did know I couldn't do that. I am planning to keep it till 50k or 40k and then trade it in for another M3 or M5 depending on which way BMW will go. I plan to keep my car for about 10 years which is typical for me. I may keep it longer. There is the possibility of a major repair but the expense of that is small compared to the thousands you save by not having car payments. This "explode when warranty expires" thing is way overplayed. Originally Posted by F All times are GMT The time now is AM. Mark Forums Read. How long will these cars last? User Name. Page 1 of 5. The M3 was powered by the S65 4. This is of those kinds of engines that needs to be revved into oblivion to get the most out of them, to access all of the horsepower PS. It also has a great sound throughout the rev range and an incredibly sharp throttle response.
My M3 has k miles Runs strong, pulls hard and still looks good. With me taking care of it, itll last till k easy. Love my M3. They are great cars for DIYers -- the performance is pretty good, they handle pretty well, you can find online instructions for just about every repair, and there are plenty of new and used stock and performance parts available. It will be no Honda Accord. It will require attention more of the time but I find it's worth fixing, unlike disposable cars. Parts are pricey, cooling system and suspension will need attention, but not unreliable cars.
As long as you want it to last. Its only money. They run forever. I've seen them go past k. I know a kid who didn't have a problem until 3xx,xxx miles and he beat the crap out of it. I think he dropped a valve eventually. Swapped another motor in within two or three days and had it up and running again. He'd never done an engine swap, either. Nor was he a mechanic. Just good with hands on work and a bright guy.
I bought a with k miles, that had all the inspection 1 and 2 items taken care of. The oil changed every 5k miles etc. However, the PO neglected to change any suspension, so I'm basically replacing the front and rear suspension components. All in all, I'd say it will cost about 3k in parts and labor for everything. However, when compared to the raucous Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio , the M3 doesn't immerse the driver quite as much. The M3 sedan is rated at up to 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.
Adding all-wheel drive lowers its highway estimate to 22 mph. Once we run one on our mph highway fuel-economy route, which is part of our extensive testing regimen , we can't evaluate its real-world mpg. For more information about the M3's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website. Besides unique "M" badging and distinct trim details, the M3 interior is basically the same as the regular 3-series. That means the M3 has the same design, passenger space, and outward visibility as its more pedestrian counterpart.
While M cars are known for their heartier performance, they also meet or exceed the materials and build quality of the top-of-the-line 3-series. Of course, the M3 has more carbon-fiber and microsuede accents for a racier aesthetic.
The driver faces a Switching to M View adds a shift indicator and replaces the regular tachometer with one that's easier to read. A set of heavily bolstered, lightweight front seats are available standard on the Competition and provide incredible support without sacrificing much comfort, although that might not ring true on long road trips.
