I figured that Fortisol certainly wouldn't hurt, if only I could figure out how to use it. Originally posted by ryouma17 :. Charllize View Profile View Posts. Wow, I tried the battle again and equipped a Doctor's Code. It made all the difference! Originally posted by WickedRequiem :. I have like 3 of each left, and Snow just left my party in Chapter 3. Am I screwed aka do I need to start from a much older save? You are fine as long as you postpone the optional Cie'th missions until you beat the game.
They are easier that way, although they also offer a bunch of rewards that make the final chapter a lot easier. Still, not doing any optional stuff will not screw you over in the main storyline, and to my knowledge a lot of people like to postpone the stone missions after they have access to all role levels.
Well no, you're not screwed, it's just you may not be able to do for example some Cie'th Stone Missions earlier than you would be able to do normally. Nothing in the game requires any -sols, they just make life easier or allow you to do certain things earlier than you normally would be capable of, for an advantage. After a second fight against the same monster he can use a more dangerous attack this time, but it doesn't matter -- just keep attacking and you'll win you will receive your first battle score result; it should be an easy five-star rated sheet.
You will also receive 6x Potion at the end of the fight. After a couple of tutorials about camera control and the Datalog which is a BIG part of the story explanation in this game. You can ignore it if you don't care about the plot, but a lot of things will not be as clear if you do so you can finally start running through the first of the many hallways of this game. By the way, you can bring up the map on the screen in full size by pressing the X button.
You can remove or display it by pressing Back there is no reason to ever remove it. Enemies will be marked as red dots on your mini-map. You don't necessarily have to fight all the enemies you encounter to be powerful enough to progress through the game, and in fact most of the times it will be a good idea to run past the groups of enemies that you can avoid to make your life easier.
Fighting will earn you more or less valuable Spoils loot, dropped items , and therefore Gil, and later also CP the classic "Exp" to power up your characters. Just so you know it, there is a long list of available "Spoil" items in the game, but most of them are generic "materials" that don't really matter: don't be concerned about getting them; unless suggested otherwise, they are pretty much junk.
You may also "Stagger" enemies as you fight; a tutorial about Staggering will take place later soon enough, don't worry. Instrument of Fate Took the first steps toward challenging an unjust fate. Proceed past the save point save the game while you're here; ignore the "Shop" feature, as it's useless for now , and engage the first two enemies on the screen to continue.
It's possible to try and surprise enemies for a pre-emptive attack engage battle from behind them, thus surprising them , but these first enemies are too weak for this to possibly make a difference, so don't bother and just run into battle. You can simply Auto-Battle your way through this fight, as well as the upcoming ones. Shortly after the third group of enemies you will find the first Treasure Sphere on the left as you go on; it contains a Potion.
Continue to trigger a cutscene. Go up the small stairs on the right to find a treasure sphere containing 2x Potion. There is another Save Station up ahead -- save the game and continue. This is an equippable Accessory; give it to Lightning access the game menu with Y , then use the Equipment option to assign her this piece of equipment for an extra boost of her HP, and then continue North. Continue further North; after Lightning jumps off the platforms on the left, check on the right before going towards the next enemies to find a treasure sphere that contains 50 Gil.
As you continue there will be a tutorial battle about Item Usage. It's not very important you may actually want to skip it, since it will make you use a Potion in battle. Proceed after another cutscene. Some of the next groups of enemies are slightly stronger, and it's possible that they will kill your characters. Should you die, remember that you can always "Retry" the last battle there is no real Game Over in this game , either after a K.
Follow Sazh on the platform on the left; save the game, and then proceed to "Activate" a control panel a red circle appears on the ground next to items you can interact with. Hanging Edge - Skybridge No. It's a rather easy concept: keep attacking the same enemy over and over to fill the "Chain Gauge".
As the gauge gets filled, the enemy will take more damage from your attacks; more precisely, the damage will be multiplied by the percentage shown in the Chain Gauge. For example, if you deal 20 HP of damage at the default Moreover, his weakness to status ailments will also increase, and the Chain Gauge itself will fill up much more quickly on a Staggered enemy.
The enemies won't stay Staggered forever, but only for a short amount of time. For more info on this subject, refer to the Strategies and Battle Mechanics page of this guide. After this mini-boss fight which you can win simply with the usual Auto-Battle command; kill the Wardens first another cutscene will play, and the action will switch focus to some other characters.
Hanging Edge - Aerorail Trussway 5-W. As Snow, open the treasure sphere behind you on the right to obtain 50 Gil.
Then go on, approach some NPC if you want to read a few extra lines of dialogue, and then save the game before proceeding. Then hop on the debris ahead to trigger more scenes and continue with the game. Hanging Edge - Aerorail Trussway 6-W. More scenes will trigger as you continue.
After them, open the treasure sphere nearby, on the left, to get another Iron Bangle no need to equip it now. Then save the game at the station ahead, and proceed for more battles. At one point you will fight a Beta Behemoth, a sort of mini-boss.
Although this foe is stronger than the average enemy, you can still rely on Auto-Battle for an easy win your allies will automatically heal you with Potions if your HP get too low. You will get 5x Potion at the end of this fight. A cutscene will trigger after this battle; then the game will ask you to save your progress -- do so, and continue. Back in Lightning's shoes, you have to face another stronger-than-average enemy Myrmidon to continue. You can continue to rely on Auto-Battle to win, even though this enemy will deal quite a lot of damage.
You shouldn't need to use Potions you will probably end the battle with very low HP if you don't , but feel free to do so if you think you need it. Hanging Edge - Aerorail Trussway 3-N. After yet more scenes you'll be back in control of Snow. Open the treasure sphere ahead to get the Power Circle weapon for Snow; equip it, then go on to save the game. Proceed into more fights, or avoid them if you want there's enough room to easily sneak around all the upcoming enemies.
Go up and down some stairs, and check on the right to find a small dead end where a treasure sphere worth Gil is. Then go up and down more stairs to enter an easy event battle. After the scenes you'll control Hope and Vanille. There's nothing you can do here aside from looking around and listening to random NPC lines by approaching them. Save the game if you want, and then examine the bike next to Vanille to trigger the cutscenes that will accompany you to the end of this first Chapter.
The game will ask you to save the game again before introducing you to Chapter 2. Map of Chapter 2 - The Pulse Vestige. This item will open the second shop in the game shops are only available at the Save Stations , which however is still not important at this early stage: save your precious Gil to buy Potions you won't need to buy them for a while, but in future you will have to restock a few times.
Instrument of Dissent Survived the Purge to confront a greater peril. Go get the "exciting" 30 Gil from the treasure sphere near the point where you crashed your bike; then save the game at the save station. In these first areas of the game you have good opportunities to farm very important items: the Shrouds. A tutorial about the Shrouds will display after a few more events in the game.
Technically speaking, you can get Shrouds at any time later in the game too, but in these early Chapters you have the best opportunities to farm them, and you definitely should do so, even if just a little bit. Shrouds can only be used outside the battles press LB to access the "Shroud menu", and then select the one you want to use. The four possible Shrouds are:. You don't need a lot of these, since there's a little trick that can help you use them basically without actually consuming them at least if your purpose is to avoid fights ; I'll write about this trick in the next paragraphs you may have already read it in the Battle Mechanics page.
The duration of the effect is limited 30 seconds - Fortisol : allows you to start the next fight with Faith, Bravery, Haste offensive boosts. The duration of the effect is limited 30 seconds on the field; 5 minutes in battle - Aegisol : allows you to start the next fight with Protect, Shell, Veil, Vigilance defensive boosts.
The duration of the effect is limited 30 seconds on the field; 5 minutes in battle - Ethersol : completely refills your TP T echnical P oints gauge this gauge will be introduced later, in Chapter 3.
You have better chances of obtaining Shrouds in the Spoils of a battle if you receive a LOW rating at the end of a fight. Unlike normal items common and rare drops , Shrouds are not assigned to a specific enemy, but rather to enemy groups.
For instance, a Pantheron in this place can drop a Fortisol, but a group of two Pantherons can drop a Deceptisol and not, as it may seem logic, two Fortisol. The enemies in this first area offer a great opportunity to farm Fortisol and Deceptisol.
In particular, you can follow this farming route to get a lot of Fortisol more valuable than Deceptisol quickly:. Kill the single Pantheron upstairs for Fortisol. In this battle, don't ever act with Vanille; let Hope attack, so it takes longer to win. If you do this, your score should be two or three stars, and the drop rate of Fortisol will be very high.
Kill the 2x Pantheron group nearby for Deceptisol. Auto-Battle to attack with both characters; the drop rate is good enough at five stars three stars doesn't give you a higher drop rate than five stars; two stars would increase the drop rate, but it takes too long to win with two stars, and it's not worth it.
Return to the Save Station no need to save ; the single Pantheron will be respawned, and you can kill him again for another Fortisol.
Kill the 3x Zwerg Scandroids upstairs for Deceptisol; Auto-Battle to quickly kill them drop rate is already good like this. Return to the Save Station no need to save ; this will respawn Pantheron again, so you can get another Fortisol from him.
Kill the other group of 3x Zwerg Scandroids for more Deceptisol. Return to the Save Station to respawn the single Pantheron once again; kill him for more Fortisol. Save the game, then Quit press Start , then Back to quit back to the Title Screen ; reload and repeat the process from the beginning.
The suggested amount of Shrouds to collect in this area is not particularly high -- 10x Fortisol will be enough. As for the Deceptisol, there isn't really a suggested amount, but you should have enough of it 15x or more by the time you finish farming Fortisol.
The amount of Deceptisol you will actually consume is minimal, which is why it's not too important if you don't get a lot of it now. Now, about the trick I mentioned earlier to save Deceptisol -- if you enter a battle with the Shrouds effects on, and then hit Start and Retry, the game will make you respawn outside the battle and will give you the Shrouds you used back. Therefore, if there are, say, three consecutive groups of enemies and you want to avoid them with Deceptisol, you can use the Deceptisol before the first group, run past the three groups, and then engage the third group while the Deceptisol effect is still active.
As soon as you enter battle, Retry it to respawn next to the third group of enemies: you will get your Deceptisol back, and you've avoided confrontation. In addition to this, you also want to know that when you Retry a battle you'll be respawned in the last spot where you walked-on before entering the field of action of the enemies.
Therefore if you enter battle from, say, South of an enemy group, you will respawn after Retrying South of them. However, if you enter battle from North, you will respawn North of them. Therefore, in the previous example with three consecutive enemy groups, you want to engage the third group of enemies after walking past them walk past their line of sight; you know you're out of their line of sight if your mini-map's color is blue and not read, and if your characters are walking normally instead of a bit crouched , and not from the side where you came from.
If you do it correctly, you will respawn past them. Be careful when using this trick though: sometimes you will trigger cutscenes as you move on, and you don't want to have Shroud effects on when this happens, since this may cause you to really consume a Deceptisol because you won't be able to enter a battle to get it back.
To keep it simple, don't be too lazy if you're going to use this trick to avoid enemies, and get your Deceptisol back by entering and Retrying battle from "past" an enemy group as soon as you've sneaked past the enemy group s that you want to avoid. Also know that the Retry trick works also with Aegisol and Fortisol, but for obvious reasons they are useful only in a battle, not while running on the field it'd be pointless to use it with them.
Using the Retry method to get Aegisol and Fortisol back is a good backup plan in case you accidentally use them though -- just fight a random enemy and Retry the battle, so you won't have to waste them for nothing. The farming process to get the 10x Fortisol should take about half an hour.
Do not use Shrouds for regular encounters! Explore this place to find more enemies and treasure spheres.
Near the first group of Zwerg enemies you will find a sphere containing 4x Potion. Defeat three more Zwerg Scandroid as you make your way through this place to get the treasure they were guarding; it's an Iron Bangle.
The Pre-Emptive strike tutorial will pop-up when you approach this group. There's no need to equip this other Iron Bangle on either of your current characters, so leave it in the inventory for others to use in future. The Pulse Vestige - House of Stairs. As Snow, turn around to find a sphere containing 2x Potion , then save the game, and continue to the next objective marker. This is where the tutorial about Shrouds takes place.
You now control Lightning and Sazh; save the game, and feel free to use the Deceptisol trick to sneak past the enemies ahead if you don't feel like engaging pointless battles. Do fight a group of 4x Zwerg Scandroids to gain access to a Phoenix down in a treasure sphere though. After sneaking past a Myrmidon or after fighting him legit, if you really like Auto-Battling , defeat a Pantheron and a couple of Zwerg Scandroid to open the treasure that they were guarding: it's the Gladius weapon for Lightning equip it, since its extra Strength for lower Magic is a good deal now.
Then proceed, and after some more scenes you will control Snow again. As Snow, turn around and go downstairs to find 2x Potion in a treasure sphere. Then proceed to the objective marker; defeat the enemies on the way to examine a pillar to continue. Back to Vanille and Hope. Go upstairs and turn right to find a group of enemies guarding a treasure sphere containing a Fortisol.
Proceed to the next area. Defeat the two Pantherons guarding a treasure sphere worth Gil. Keep going on for a short scene, at the end of which an event battle against 3x Ghoul will trigger. More scenes after the fight Equip this item on Lightning replace the Iron Bangle , then continue onwards.
There will be a bunch of Ghouls on the way, and you can easily avoid them all without Deceptisol they are all slow. At one point you'll necessarily have to engage battle with a more powerful so to speak enemy Ghast to continue. Just run through this empty area, avoiding the enemies if you don't feel like fighting for nothing.
The Pulse Vestige - Anima's Throne. Approach the objective marker to advance with the story -- sit back and enjoy some important cutscenes. Avoid or fight the enemies to continue; the last couple is guarding a treasure sphere containing 5x Potion.
Save the game, and then continue North to trigger the first real boss fight of the game. A Fortisol could help in this battle, but it will really just speed things up a little and reduce the amount of Potions you'll need to survive.
Since neither a few seconds nor Potions are as valuable as a Fortisol, save your Fortisol for harder situations. The Manipulators are the enemies that will deal damage to you, whereas the main boss will pretty much just stand still, waiting for you to kill the Manipulators before starting to do something.
Once the Manipulators have been destroyed, you can start hitting the main boss. The boss will regenerate the Manipulators after a few seconds. Given the limited options at this point of the game, the battle strategy consists merely in attacking the Manipulators first, and then the main boss once they are both down. You will need to use Potions in this fight: make sure to do so as soon as your party members go down to less than 70 HP. It's possible to win this fight without using Potions, or at least reduce the amount you'll need to use.
The Manipulators' attacks can deal damage only if you go close to them. Therefore, if you do not attack them with Lightning, and leave the offense to Snow and Sazh, nobody should ever need healing: Lightning won't take damage at all, or almost , Snow will survive the damage thanks to his high HP, and Sazh will simply stay away from every source of damage since he's not a melee fighter.
You can then use Lightning to attack Anima once the Manipulators are down. Actually, you can also use Lightning to attack the Manipulators and avoid damage if you time it right: if you wait until right after the Manipulators' attack to launch your own attacks, she will attack them in melee range after their attack, and therefore she won't get hit.
At the end of this fight you will receive the very valuable Doctor's Code Improved Potions Accessory; its effect is to double the HP recovered with Potions from to , and it will be extremely useful for most of the boss fights your HP will not get very high until very late in the game.
After more scenes, the game will prompt you to save. Then some minutes of flashback scenes will play. Then you'll be asked to save the game again; no harm in doing so. Yet more scenes in the present will ensue afterwards. Map of Chapter 3 - Lake Bresha. Lake Bresha - The Waters Stilled.
Take your time to go through the tutorial now, and read about it more on this topic in the Strategies and Battle Mechanics page of this guide if you wish so. After this battle you will also unlock:. Instrument of Tragedy Strode into danger's den and paid the consequences. The Paradigms menu has been added to your main menu. You can now create new Paradigms, or eliminate existing ones, but you still can't change your Battle Team that is to say, select the Leader and Members , and therefore you are stuck with Lightning Leader , Snow, Vanille.
In the main menu you can also notice the " T echnical P oints" TP at the bottom-right of your screen. You'll also be able to notice the corresponding "Technique" voice in the battle menu from now on. The only Technique available now is Libra, which scans enemies' data for 1 TP.
TPs recharge as you win battles; the Ethersol Shroud can also refill all the five TP, but it's not an item you should use for random situations.
Give Vanille an Iron Bangle Lightning should have another one, and a third and last one should be in your inventory , and remove the Power Wristband from Snow. The Doctor's Code is a very effective Accessory, but it will only become useful in tough battles, where item usage will play a vital role for your survival. I won't be telling you which Paradigms to use in normal battles for obvious reasons. Just practice a bit, and you'll soon get the hang of things. These are just examples to give you an idea of how different Paradigms can be used in different situations.
Get used to change Paradigms frequently in battle: being lazy will often make you waste time, or even lead to Game Over. Go down the path for more scenes and a tutorial about the Crystarium the growth system of the game will trigger. The "Crystarium" entry will be added to your menu, and you can use a few CP C rystarium P oints to make your first upgrades.
In the first Chapters you will often gain enough CP to fully upgrade all the "roles" Commando, Ravager, etc. As a general rule of thumb, keep in mind that the parameter boosts of each character will usually be related to the "role" you upgrade. In other words, expect a lot of Strength upgrades when upgrading a Commando role Crystarium, and expect a lot of Magic upgrades if you are upgrading Ravagers instead.
Right now Sazh and Hope don't matter since they can't be used anyway. Note that reserve members of the party will always get CP from battles like the members deployed in battle. As anticipated earlier in this guide, fighting all the enemies to get extra CP is not necessary.
As long as you fight those that are guarding treasures, and the mandatory ones on the way, you can then afford to skip every fight with or without Deceptisol , even if this means having a bit less CP to spend to boost stats.
With the right strategy it's even possible to go as far as not using Crystarium at all and still beat the game, just to give you an idea no need to be that extreme though :p.
Let's proceed with the game. Go North and take a turn left when there's a fork, so you can proceed down a dead end that leads to a treasure sphere containing the Pearlwing Staff weapon for Vanille equip it. Then take the other path, and save the game before proceeding. Continue past it and defeat a group of enemies guarding a treasure sphere containing 7x Chipped Fang on the right.
Cross a bridge made of debris and check on the right side to find a dead end, where another treasure is -- open it to get Gil. Continue onwards to trigger an event battle against a bunch of PSICOM Wardens, which you will kill swiftly and fast thanks to your awakened powers. This battle serves also as a tutorial for the "command execution" in battle. The important news here is that you can interrupt the loading of your ATB gauges by pressing Y , and this will automatically execute the actions that you've already "loaded" when you interrupt the charge provided you have loaded any at all, of course.
Once this is done, move on and stay on the right to find another treasure; this one contains 5x Cie'th Tear. Lake Bresha - Amid Timebound Waves. Stay on the left and detour towards a dead end to find a treasure sphere. Equip this item on Lightning, and then go back to the main path to reach a Save Station.
Save the game, and then proceed further on. After more scenes you'll resume the game near a treasure sphere guarded by 4x Phantheron; open it for a Phoenix Down , and then open the other sphere on the right side, up a small hill, for 50 Gil.
Go past another couple of enemies to find another sphere on the left; this one contains 8x Strange Fluid. Then continue and save the game at the next Save Station before proceeding any further; a boss fight will trigger a few meters ahead. The member that will leave is:. Boss Fight - Manasvin Warmech This is still a sort of tutorial fight; the topic this time is how to use Paradigms effectively to stagger enemies and stuff like that.
Feel free to go through it if you feel like it. Use Libra on the boss to scan his status. You'll most likely need to Stagger him twice before killing him. Lake Bresha - Encased in Crystal. A party change occurs here; your formation is now Lightning Leader , Vanille, Sazh, with Hope as reserve and Snow out of the group.
You may want to adjust your Paradigms; Sazh can only be Ravager for now, so you can't replicate all the Paradigms available earlier with Snow. Follow the only possible way North, and then take the right path when you see a fork to loot a treasure sphere containing 6x Strange Fluid. Hop off the ledge near the sphere, and continue North; take the path on the left to detour towards a couple of more treasure spheres which contain Gil and the Deneb Duellers weapon for Sazh equip "them".
Then take the other path to cross a big gap. After doing so, go on the right and proceed backwards a bit to reach a sphere that contains 6x Enigmatic Fluid. Then go North and stick to the right to find another sphere; this one has 7x Wicked Fang inside.
Interact with the machine on the left side to open a path to continue. Cross the bridge filled with enemies and save the game at the upcoming Save Station. Shortly afterwards, an event battle against a powerful Alpha Behemoth will trigger. A tutorial about Techniques will suggest you to use Libra on him; do so. He's also weak against Fire and Water.
Once the battle is won, check the slope on the right to find a treasure sphere containing a Librascope. Then continue North for more scenes. Proceed after the scenes, and check the dead end to the right to find a treasure sphere which contains 2x Digital Circuit before continuing further North to the next area.
Climb up the cliff on the right side to reach a couple of treasure spheres which contain 2x Paraffin Oil and 50 Gil. Climb further up and check the isolated platform on the right to find another treasure sphere; this one has 3x Insulated Cabling. Move on to reach the next Save Station -- there will be a Watchdrone and a Ciconia Velocycle on the way; you can easily pre-emptive attack them if you jump up behind the Ciconia Velocycle the "bike".
Save the game and then continue for more cutscenes. Lake Bresha - The Mirrored Morass. Continue after the scenes; kill the enemies on your way and open the two treasure spheres in plain sight on the right side to obtain 30 Gil and 6x Begrimed Claw. Lake Bresha - Gates of Antiquity. Check the small alcove on the right for a treasure sphere worth Gil.
Try to sneak behind the Alpha Behemoth in the middle of the open area, and then proceed upstairs. Stay on the right and check the upper-right corner to find another sphere, this time containing 2x Digital Circuit. Then go left and ascend on the debris to continue to the next area. Lake Bresha - Forgotten Commons. Continue North on the right side to advance.
A treasure sphere on the way will contain 3x Potion , and then you'll come across a Save Station. Save the game here, and then proceed. Vanille will suggest a shortcut that, however, will make you miss on a treasure and a series of fights. If you take the long way instead of the shortcut, the treasure you'll be able to get is a Millerite , a "Catalyst" item for upgrading your equipment.
Right now you literally can't do anything anyway because you still haven't received the Omni-Kit item, necessary for the upgrades. Continue on the way, and go up some stairs on the right when you have a chance; this will let you reach a treasure sphere containing a Ferroelectric Film.
Hop down from here, go North to find a Save Station. Lake Bresha - Echoes of the Past. Save the game and check on either side of the Save Station to find two spheres; one has a Phoenix Down , and the other has 2x Librascope. Boss Fight - Garuda Interceptor This is a two-parts battle. The boss has 8, HP in the first phase, and 16, in the second one. He is weak against Wind, but immune to Earth damage.
He can use a mildly powerful Lightning-based attack during the second phase. If you feel like it, help yourself by using the ATB Recharge trick again, see Strategies and Battle Mechanics for more info by switching between [1] and [2] for faster attacks. Don't bother with healing; you'll be fully healed once the first phase is over. The second fight will begin immediately after the first one.
This time the boss will take very little damage before being Staggered. After this attack, go back to [5] and [6] for healing, or just use a Potion. After the fight you will obtain a Silver Bangle , and the key item " Up in Arms ", which opens a Shop with the same name. Moreover, the Crystarium will be expanded, allowing Sazh to become a Synergist and Vanille to become a Saboteur. Lake Bresha - A Silent Maelstrom. Two event battles will trigger as Snow-solo now. The first fight is against a bunch of respawning soldiers; don't worry about healing, just attack automatically until they knock Snow down.
Then the first "Eidolon battle" will begin. Eidolon Battle - Shiva Eidolon battles are very different from normal fights. Your goal to win is to fill the "Gestalt gauge" by performing specific actions passive or active. Then you have to press X to complete the fight and obtain the Summon. The countdown above the head of your character will lead to his death once it reaches zero. Most of the Eidolon battles will be rather tough; this first one is just a taste of what to expect in the future.
In case you didn't know this yet, you'll need to scan the enemies twice to obtain full info on them with Libra, or only once if you rather use a Librascope best if you save these rare and expensive items for real emergencies though.
Gestalt battles are not an emergency, since you can read the Gestalt conditions right here in this guide. In this case, the Gestalt gauge will fill either by amassing chain bonuses, or by defending as a Sentinel. To win the fight you can literally just Auto-Battle as Sentinel. The second "Shiva sister" will heal you during the fight, so the only actual way to lose is via "time out", which shouldn't happen if you Auto-Battle as Sentinel as suggested.
After the fight you will obtain the Shiva Eidolith key item, which will allow Snow to summon Shiva from now on. Summoning Eidolons has a price though, and specifically a cost of 3 TP. Therefore it's something you should do only after careful thinking: you can't just summon in every battle, and in fact you'll be likely to use Eidolons only in very specific situations. Snow will also acquire another ATB segment at this point he now has 4.
A lot of cutscenes will play now, marking the end of Chapter 3. Map of Chapter 4 - The Vile Peaks. The Crystarium has been expanded to Stage 2 now, meaning that you can further power-up your characters. After an easy battle against a pack of Pantheron, you will resume the game with Vanille and Sazh and unlock:. Instrument of Flight Slipped through the net and lived to fight another day. After unlocking them near the end of this Chapter, you want to spend CP to acquire the first Accessory slot nodes with everyone so they can all have two Accessories.
Follow the only possible way with these two characters to trigger some flashback scenes. Back in control of Lightning and Hope, re-arrange your equipment Power Wristband or Silver Bangle on Lightning; Silver Bangle on Hope and set up the Paradigms if you want the default ones already cover every combination you need anyway.
Save the game at the Save Station on the way, and then jump to the right to find a treasure sphere containing a Librascope , right next to a Thexteron. In this first area you can farm the valuable Aegisol rather easily from the single Thexteron the one near the treasure you should have just looted. If you manage to achieve a zero-stars rating easily accomplished if you also stay idle until his second attack before Auto-Battling your way to the victory , you'll have very high chances of getting an Aegisol from this enemy.
Proceed towards the group of enemies ahead the 1x Thexteron and 2x Pantheron and engage battle with them. Backtrack to the South towards the dead end where Lightning and Hope came from.
At this point if you go back North the single Thexteron will be respawned. I suggest farming until you have about as many Aegisol as Fortisol so farm 10x Aegisol here. When you're done, proceed on the only possible way, defeating the enemies you encounter on the narrow path. You may want to un-equip the accessories from Lightning and Hope, since a party change will occur when you approach the objective marker. Here a series of cutscenes will play, and then you'll take control of Sazh and Vanille again.
Vile Peaks - Another Man's Treasure. A couple of tutorials about the SYN role and the three-way battles will appear on the screen.
